Home visits specification

If possible please try to telephone reception before 11.00 if you require a home visit.

If you are housebound or are too ill to visit the Practice you can request a home visit. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can be visited at home by a Community Nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a Health Visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Please only request visits if absolutely necessary as the doctor can see an average of four patients in surgery in the same time taken to do one home visit.

Visits are normally undertaken at any time between 1.00 and 3.30pm. You should therefore not expect the doctor to arrive immediately following the end of morning surgery.

Home visits are not available to assist with problems of transport or social issues beyond our control.
